The retreats are in silence and it is requested :

 

- to get up at 4 am and to practise till 9 pm, alternating sitting and walking meditations and to be mindful from moment to moment from morning till evening.

 

- to commit oneself to observe rigorously the eight following precepts for the entire duration of the retreat :

 

  • to abstain from killing any living creature
  • to abstain from taking what is not given
  • to abstain from all sexual activity
  • to abstain from talking; to keep noble silence
  • to abstain from all intoxicants (alcohol, drugs) and from smoking
  • to abstain from eating solid food after midday and thus no meal in the evening (meals around 6 am and 11 am)
  • to abstain from sensual entertainment (reading, listening to the radio, playing musical instruments, massage, yoga…) and bodily decoration (jewels, perfume)
  • to abstain from using too confortable sits and beds
